Overview

Old Square Chambers is ranked as a leading set in Health & Safety law, and members of the Group are the editors of the leading practitioner texts in this area: Redgrave on Health & Safety, and Munkman on Employer's Liability.

Nature of work

Members of the Health & Safety Group provide advice and representation covering a wide range of health and safety litigation from public inquiries to regulatory prosecutions, by the Health & Safety Executive and local authorities, in both the Crown and Magistrates' Courts.

Old Square Chambers has a history of expertise in transport work from the Clapham Junction Inquiry to the Ladbroke Grove and Southall Inquiries, where members represented two separate parties. Most recently, John Hendy QC represented the bereaved and injured in the successful judicial review of the decision of the Secretary of State for Transport not to hold a public inquiry into the Potters Bar rail crash. Members of the Group will be involved in the forthcoming Potters Bar Inquiry.

Chambers' in-depth knowledge of the related practice areas of personal injury, environment, and public inquiries further strengthens the Group's expertise.
