Ladbroke Grove Train Crash Inquiry (on behalf of the victims) 2000;

Southall Train Crash Inquiry (on behalf of the victims), 1999;

Street Markets Inquiry for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets (which he chaired), 1991;

Woolf Inquiry into the Strangeways Prison Riot (on behalf of the Prison Officers Association) 1990;

Kings Cross Underground Fire disaster (on behalf of the Association of London Local Authorities) 1986.

He led ground-breaking test case litigation establishing liability for "vibration white finger" on behalf of British Coal mineworkers which resulted in 1999 in a Scheme now valued in excess of £2.5bn and which remains under the supervision of the court.
He has represented a number of consultants subject to discipline in internal NHS and GMC proceedings, beginning with the case of
Wendy Savage in 1986 and including the cases of
Marietta Higgs, Helena Daly, Helen Zeitlin, Susan Kramer, Duncan Walker, Tony Sadler, Bryony Ackroyd, Sarla Verma, Anne David and many others. These cases have involved, from time to time, injunction proceedings.
He is recognised by
