 Malcolm specialises in all areas of criminal regulatory law, with particular emphasis on prosecutions involving health and safety, trading standards and environmental law.
He is ranked in both Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500 and has recently been appointed by the prosecuting authorities to the highest Regulatory List (HSE, ORR, EA) - List A.
Malcolm has substantial criminal trial experience being a category 4 prosecutor for the CPS and has defended cases with and without a leader up to and including allegations of murder. In recent years he has appeared at inquests and defended individuals and companies relating to high profile regulatory prosecutions.
He has appeared frequently in the Court of Appeal and Divisional Court including a number of cited cases including guideline cases.
He is recommended for providing a modern accessible service utilising his criminal experience combined with an understanding of the commercial implications of any decisions made by his clients.
He is regularly invited to lecture on all aspects of criminal and regulatory law by solicitors, the police and regulatory authorities.
He is a registered pupil supervisor, advocacy trainer for the Western Circuit and has been selected to be an external advocacy assessor for the Crown Prosecution Service.
