Coronavirus Update: Chambers Operations – Please Read

News

Dear all,

During a challenging time for both Chambers and our clients, we have taken the necessary steps to operate Chambers remotely wherever possible. Our barristers and staff will be working from home, and only attending Chambers if essential. We have made this decision in the interests of safeguarding all parties who come in to contact with us, and to enable us to provide an effective service to all of our clients in these testing times.

With this in mind, there will be some changes in the operation of Chambers over the coming weeks. We would ask you to please note the following:

  • From 6th January 2021, Chambers will no longer be accepting hard copy papers in Chambers. Please ensure all papers or documents you wish to send are communicated electronically. If you wish to send papers directly to counsel, please ensure the relevant clerk is copied in so that the papers can be logged and acknowledged in our usual manner. Given these uncertain times, we are also mindful of delays and interruption to the infrastructure of physical deliveries as a whole, and wish to ensure we can assure you of secure receipt. If you have already sent papers and not received an acknowledgment, can you please contact us to ensure we have received them.
  • Staff will remain contactable via our switchboard and direct dial numbers and also via email and we will have full access to our systems. We would ask where possible, to use the direct dial number to call staff or email them directly. Please click here to see a full list of contact details.
  • We have noticed an increase in email traffic and appreciate this is due to many of our clients and contacts working remotely. We will endeavour to respond promptly, but please bear with us and call if anything is more urgent.

All conferences will be converted into telephone or video conferences where possible, if this has not already been arranged can you please contact the relevant clerk to organise.

We would request any payments to Chambers please be made electronically. If you need to speak to a member of the fees team, please email them on fees@oldsquare.co.uk.

We will of course keep you updated if anything changes, and thank you in advance for your understanding during a difficult time for all of us. We wish you all well.

If you have any difficulties reaching anyone in chambers, or have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me directly on the details below.

Kind regards,

William Meade
