News - Laith Dilaimi represents pupil with afro hair in EHRC-funded race discrimination claim

Civil Liberties and Human Rights - Laith Dilaimi

Laith Dilaimi acted for Ruby Williams in her claim for race discrimination against her former secondary school, the Urswick School in Hackney.

Ruby, a pupil with afro hair, claimed that she had been repeatedly sent home and otherwise discriminated against and/or victimised because of her hair.

Following Laith's advice on settlement, the claim settled for £8,500 without admission of liability. The settlement was approved by Central London County Court.

Laith was instructed by Dan Rosenberg and Chris Callender of Simpson Millar. The claim was funded by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (‘EHRC’). Laith is on the EHRC Panel of Counsel.
