News - Nicola Newbegin Successfully Represents Employee Victimised Speaking Out As Part Of #Metoo #Timesup

Employment & Discrimination - Nicola Newbegin

Nicola, instructed by Prospect the Union, has successfully represented Ms Gutfreund-Walmsley in her claim that she was victimised by her then employer, Big Lottery Fund Ltd, for speaking out publicly about her experiences of sexual harassment whilst working as a hostess for a different employer some years earlier. The Tribunal described her manager’s behaviour following her speaking out as “unacceptable”.

Ms Gutfreund-Walmsley has commented as follows: “If we as a society are to eradicate sexual harassment and inappropriate behaviour it is vital that women are permitted to speak out about their experiences without fear or retribution and that the law protects us when doing so.”
